Going for tapas
When it comes to the gastronomy of O Carballiño, one is the quintessential product of this territory, the octopus, prepared mainly as “pulpo á feira”. Such is the fame he has that they have their own party dedicated to this dish.
In addition to the octopus, other typical Galician products are also famous in this destination, such as dishes derived from pork, including cachucha (pork head) and cocido. Among the desserts are the cañas, or fried roasts, a distinctive dessert of O Carballiño.
In addition, O Carballiño has from avant-garde establishments where tourists can taste elaborate dishes, to typical restaurants where you can try the delights of our land. In the town there are more than 45 restaurants, among which are restaurants, barbecues, snack bars or coffee shops with food service.
You should not forget the pairing, in this case with wine from O Ribeiro, since as previously discussed O Carballiño belongs to the Geodestination of O Ribeiro – O Carballiño and to the Route of the Vineyard of O Ribeiro.
We encourage you to explore the streets and corners of O Carballiño enjoying the local cuisine in the different restaurants that you will find throughout the village.
Also note that on the 16th and last day of the month the feira da vila is celebrated, with octopus stands on different streets.
