More than 50 years of uninterrupted celebration and history (with the exception of 2020, where the festival was celebrated in a more symbolic way due to the restrictions derived from COVID-19) which may seem insignificant compared to the more than three centuries since the introduction of this marine product in Galicia, but which turned out to be more than sufficient to achieve the qualification of the largest gastronomic event in Galicia.
It is therefore a contemporary pilgrimage, which still retains all the ingredients of the ancient Galician pilgrimages. Its success undoubtedly stems from its association with one of the most exclusive and ancient gastronomic events in Galicia, the tasting of the “Pulpo á Feira”, being the village of Santa María de Arcos, adjacent to O Carballiño and whose municipality belongs to, its cradle, or rather, “pulpeiras” and “pulpeiros” cradle, authentic artisans cooks of their preparation and guarantee by their family and secular tradition of all their secrets of elaboration.
