Lobás Monastery
Mosteiro de Lobás, 32510 Mosteiro, Ourense
Lobás Monastery was a former female monastery of the Benedictine order that remained active between the 11th and 13th centuries. It was inhabited by a reduced congregation of Benedictine nuns who had formerly depended on the Monastery of Saint Paio de Antealtares, in Santiago de Compostela.
In 1988, the Xunta de Galicia announced that it wanted to recover the old monastery and restore the church. In recent years, some visits were made and the restoration of the complex was exhibited on several occasions; however, no action has yet been carried out.
